A little bit about Elena

Elena Martins is a professional dancer, dance instructor, and arts administrator from Boston, MA. She began her training at Donna Miceli Dance Center and The Academy of Ballet Arts before graduating magna cum laude from SUNY Buffalo with a BA in dance and a minor in speech and hearing sciences.  Elena's performance career spans national and international stages, with experience in dance companies on both coasts. These include Prometheus Dance and Lorraine Chapman The Company (Boston); LEVYdance, Sarah Berges Dance, Axis Dance Company, RAWdance, West Edge Opera, Bellwether Dance Project, Robert Moses’ KIN, and Liss Fain Dance (San Francisco Bay Area), among others. A dedicated educator, Elena has taught at prestigious institutions such as The School of Classical Ballet (Cambridge, MA), Jeannette Neill Dance Studio (Boston, MA), Dana Hall Upper School (Wellesley, MA), Boston Dance Company, Shawl-Anderson Dance Studio (Berkeley, CA), and Berkeley City Ballet. She currently serves on the faculty at ODC School (San Francisco, CA), The East Bay Center for Performing Arts (Richmond, CA), and Piedmont Ballet Academy, and has led master classes throughout the US and abroad. Elena also possesses a strong aptitude for arts administration. Her experience includes roles as Company Manager for Sarah Berges Dance, Company Coordinator for ZiRu Dance, and Managing Director for Robert Moses' KIN. Passionate about all facets of dance, she feels privileged to contribute to the field in diverse capacities.

Performance Resume
Elena has been dancing professionally since 2006. Her career began in Boston, MA and continued once she relocated to the Bay Area in 2015. Elena has performed nationally and internationally with renowned companies from both coasts.
Teaching Resume
Elena taught dance at many prestigious schools in the greater Boston area from 2009-2015 and currently teaches group classes and private lessons in the San Francisco Bay Area. Elena has extensive training in Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Tap, and Modern and has experience teaching these genres to students age 3-18 as well as adults of all levels.
Administrative Resume
Elena has worked with multiple dance companies as an arts administrator since relocating to the Bay Area in 2015. She was a recipient of a CALI grant to partake in career enhancing courses at The Foundation Center in San Francisco in 2017. Her skills include calendar management, grant proposals, grant management, website updates, email marketing software, and more.
